HTS appointed for work on Watford Business Park

HTS, Studio Egret West and Skelly and Couch have been appointed by Watford City Council to deliver a major regeneration scheme at the gateway to Watford Business Park. The proposals will see the council and Local Enterprise Partnerships invest 13m over the next three years to regenerate a key employment hub for Watford town.

The project includes the design of 7,100 square metres of modern, flexible commercial business units alongside associated parking and landscaping. The new developments are intended to kick-start widespread regeneration throughout one of Watford’s key employment areas.

Working alongside architects Studio Egret West, HTS will provide structural and civil engineering services while Skelly and Couch will advise on sustainability and building services.

Andy Heyne, Founding Director at Heyne Tillett Steel, said: 'We’re really looking forwards to developing an innovative and progressive typology for light industrial units, working with our friends architects Studio Egret West on this exciting regeneration scheme. With sustainability and modern methods of construction as key drivers for our client Watford Borough Council, designs will provide significant tenant flexibility whilst arranged conceptually within a modular framework.'

Christophe Egret, Founding Director at Studio Egret West, said: ‘We are excited to evolve Watford Business Park, working closely with the council and our engineering team. At Studio Egret West, it has long been our ambition to encourage industry to be more integrated, and to create durable industrial neighbourhoods as places of choice where people will want to work and play, that are alive with creative exchange and collaboration. We want to craft inclusive and diverse spaces for employment opportunities, and cultivate a strong sense of place and identity for the site.’

Work on the proposed development is due to begin later in the year.
