Heyne Tillett Steel are proud to be celebrating International Women In Engineering Day 2018 and embracing the theme of ‘Raising the Bar’.
Women make up 24% of our technical staff which is significantly higher than the industry average of 11%. HTS acknowledge more progress could be made and that’s why we are continually aiming to improve diversity in all aspects in our workplace.
We have recently commissioned an in-house diversity study and plan to communicate the findings with company staff when it is completed and implement an action plan to address any issues we find.
We are also seeking programmes that work with local schools to inform young people about what structural engineering entails. We aren’t good at publicising ourselves as an industry and many of the general public aren’t aware of the career. The more awareness we bring to the profession, the more diverse the industry will become.
