As part of the latest NLA insight study HTS Associate, Elliott Furminger recently took part in the Outer London Station Sites design charrette investigating five TfL sites.
The multidisciplinary teams worked on developing conceptual solutions for high density mixed-use developments. Elliott’s team focused on Barking, a Grade II listed station with complex operational requirements. Working alongside representatives from Pilbrow + Partners, Sheppard Robson, Berkeley St Edward, Ash Sakula Architects and TfL, the design team developed a proposal to build a new road over the back of the site, creating a traffic-free public realm to the front of the station and revitalising the surrounding area.
The future visions from the charrette feature in an NLA exhibition, research publication and series of events and talks. Upcoming events include: London Towns PechaKucha, Public Assets: Enabling growth in London’s Towns, Outer London Station Sites.
