Medair delivers emergency relief and recovery aid; providing health care, nutrition, clean water, sanitation, and shelter for refugees and vulnerable people around the world.
Andrew’s experience with Medair took him to Lebanon and Iraq, where he worked to supply shelter for people displaced by the wars in Syria and Iraq. As a Project Manager, Andrew was responsible for leading a shelter team that provided emergency shelter support to refugees living in tent settlements and unfinished buildings in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon.
Andrew’s team conducted assessments and distributed construction materials to refugees living in tents to help them cope with the extreme weather conditions in the Bekaa Valley. The shelter team also helped repair damaged or unfinished buildings to improve the housing conditions for the families. The team provided refugees with basic household items like pots and pans, blankets, and mattresses to improve their living conditions.
Although Andrew returned to London in September 2015, Medair’s work in Lebanon continues to provide hope to people whose lives have been destroyed by war.
Since joining HTS as a Senior Engineer, and in his capacity as a RedR member, Andrew continues to collaborate on shelter and infrastructure projects for organisations such as Save the Children, using his engineering skills to help NGOs across the world.
