Sophie Davies

Associate

Sophie is an engineer who enjoys getting into the detail of projects and working with the wider design team to solve problems with elegant solutions. She particularly enjoys working on heritage projects and solving problems through research into the existing fabric to mitigate risks in the early stages of the design.

With over 8 years’ experience in structural design, on a variety of different projects from complex high-rise commercial buildings to historic conversions and retail refurbishments. Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams on large and small projects from concept to construction.

Her recent work includes redevelopment and extensions to existing structures from 1900 and 1930’s. Sophie has worked closely with the wider design team to solve complex problems in relation to the interfaces of new and existing structures, to provide efficient and aesthetically pleasing solutions. Sophie also has experience in large new build commercial projects, working to minimise cost through value engineering while in tandem considering overall embodied carbon of the building solution.

Following five years at WSP and a year at a small hands-on consultancy, Sophie joined HTS to build on her existing knowledge and develop her skills in low carbon construction and innovative engineering. Sophie became a Chartered in 2020, promoted to Senior Structural Engineer in 2022 and to Associate in September 2023.
