The project involves the reconfiguration of an existing steel framed office building in Piccadilly.
The original building, formally the headquarters of Dunlop Rubber Company, has been subject to a number of heavy refurbishments over its life. The most recent in 1980 when new lift and stair cores were introduced, ground and mezzanine rebuilt and an additional storey was added.
The proposed works involve the demolition of the existing internal floors and cores, with a new single stair core introduced against the party wall to provide a more desirable floor plate. The first floor slab will demolished creating a double height space reception and voids formed in ground floor to link the basement with ground floor.
