HTS are currently undertaking an extensive refurbishment of this six storey commercial development in the heart of the City of London. The existing sixth storey will be demolished and a three storey steel framed structure will be constructed, extending the building by an additional two storeys overall. Other structural proposals include associated column strengthening and reconfiguration of the structural core.
The scheme gained planning permission in August 2016 and will also see a new public path created with the extension of Nun Court to connect Coleman Street to nearby Moorgate. This will provide a much needed pedestrian thoroughfare as well as facilitating access to the new retail and leisure space at ground level.
Key structural challenges include the extent of proposed demolition and infilling and the site’s proximity to the London Underground. The scheme is expected to be completed in 2019.
