This project involves the refurbishment and repair of this Grade II listed brutalist architecture 29 storey tower designed by Erno Goldfinger. Balfron Tower was constructed in 1962 and the exposed concrete frame has deteriorated over this period and requires significant concrete repairs to ensure its longevity.
The internal layouts and fenestrations will be modified and updated to bring the living conditions up to current standards for the private residential maket.
Further interventions are proposed to tower surroundings and approach routes with an overhaul of the Architect’s original vision of the ‘fifth elevation’.
