0389 - Bermondsey Island Site

London

This project involved the construction of an 8 storey residential block on an island site close to Tower Bridge.

The site is heavily underlain with roman archaeology, this has heavily restricted foundation options. We are limited to supporting the structure on just seven piles across the site.

Detailed finite element modelling was undertaken to create a piled raft allowing the substantial loads to bridge the underlying archaeology.
