0713 - Camden Mews

This project involved the refurbishment and extension of a semi-detached residential property in Camden, London. The site presented various constraints; the existing building had experienced significant damage from settlement due to poor ground conditions and had to be largely rebuilt. On top of this, a Network Rail tunnel runs beneath the proposed extension at a shallow depth.

A cantilever ground beam foundation was developed with bored piles in close proximity to the tunnel. Close coordination with Network Rail was needed to obtain a Basic Asset Protection Agreement (BAPA). This involved researching the tunnel construction, checking procedures and visual inspection of the tunnel itself.
