1129 - Camden Town Hall Annexe

Camden, London

The project consists of the redevelopment of the former Camden Council office building into a new 250 room iconic hotel. The building was erected in 1975 by the Borough of Camden as an Annexe to the original Town Hall in Euston Road. The existing building is an RC frame with a peculiar structural layout based on loadbearing pre-cast concrete façades on a deep cantilever platform slab at fi rst fl oor level. The proposal involves the complete refurbishment of the existing building, partial re-coring, removal of the plant structures in the roof and construction of three new storeys to accommodate hotel, bar/restaurant and plant. New floors and core extensions will be constructed as a steel frame supporting composite, concrete-filled metal decking.
