1487 - Pont Street Mews
Kensington and Chelsea
Two residential mews properties in Knightsbridge have been refurbished and redeveloped to form a single dwelling.
Key features
- New transfers introduced at second floor to allow for the removal of columns below and a new steel sway frame to replace the existing masonry dividing wall between the two properties, re-providing stability to the building
- Several openings have been formed in the existing timber floors to accommodate new roof lights, service risers and staircases
- Other areas of floor have been infilled or rebuilt to facilitate the proposed architectural layout and the desired levels
- The whole ground floor is also being lowered to improve floor heights – site investigations confirmed this was feasible without interfering with the existing foundations
