This project consists of the refurbishment and extension of an existing 1980’s office building. The existing steel frame structure is to be extended to the rear and will have two additional floors added creating considerable additional space.
The original structure has been researched and analysed to justify the additional floors with only minimal strengthening required to the frame and none to the foundations.
The refurbishment exposes the existing and new steelwork which has meant careful consideration of the structural approach and detailing has been needed to achieve the right aesthetics. The building is being re-clad with a glass and metal panelled system.
