Situated on Rivington Street, a small road in the centre of Shoreditch, Heyne Tillett Steel are working closely with Buckley Gray Yeoman to design a new six storey, plus basement, timber framed office building. The existing four storey timber framed building is to be demolished.
The proposed structure is a glulam frame, with CLT shear walls to the perimeter and cores. Research is on-going to provide Glulam/CLT composite panels for the floor plates to minimise structural depth and speed up erection on site. .
The proposed façade will have a ‘Crittal’ look, and expose the timber structure inside. As the façade sits proud of the structure its supports but a torsion into the timber frame, which is resisted by CLT upstand panels.
