This project involves the construction four new buildings for a private school near Cambridge, consisting of an art department, dance studio, theatre extension & drama space. The site presented several challenges, overlying an area of special archaeological interest, very poor ground conditions, adjacent substantial protected trees and a listed & listing retaining wall. The scheme was detailed to a high level with many elements of exposed structure including the stressed skin birch ply and douglas fir roof structure. Slimdeck-ribbed first floor slabs were used compositely with asymmetric beam sections to create column free space.
